Hello, I'm Louise and after more then 20 years working in the NHS as a Speech & Language Therapist I'm now setting up in independent practice as well. My areas of interest are:
I always spend time getting to know the child and their family to find the most effective and holistic way to offer therapy. Therapy aims to be fun and relaxed and incorporate the interests and needs of the child/ young person I'm working with.
I am registered with HCPC, RCSLT & ASLTIP and qualified from University College London with a BSc Hons (2:1).
I have trained in a range of different therapy approaches for younger children (7 and under) including Palin Parent Child Interaction therapy and Lidcombe. I have trained in a range of different therapy approaches for younger children (7 and under) including Palin Parent Child Interaction therapy and Lidcombe. With the older children I have attended training at the Michael Palin Centre for Primary and Secondary school aged children as well as for more specific therapy techniques including ACT, Solution focused therapy, CBT and NLP. I also keep up to date with new information and research by being a member of the National Stammering CEN.
I am practised in delivering therapy approaches online (my current NHS role involves delivering all stammering assessment and therapy online) and for many young people and their families this can be as effective as in person.
Assessment includes a detailed case history with the parent/carer as well as with the child/ young person before discussing which therapy approach would be most effective. Apart from specific approaches such as the Palin Parent Child Interaction Therapy, therapy is very much bespoke to the child/ young person I am working with.

I have worked in a large variety of primary schools and some secondaries over the years, and have seen how the education system has changed in that time as well. I understand the pressures schools are under and always try to make any therapy targets realistic and achievable. I am also keen to work alongside parents too making sure they have an understanding of their child's needs and have practical ways to support their child. I have specialist skills in supporting children whose primary need is with their speech & language difficulties such as speech sound difficulties, language delay, Autism with associated language disorder and Developmental language disorder (DLD).
Assessment of a child's speech and language needs could happen within the child's home environment or in school, but it would always include liaison with school to understand the impact of any difficulties within their learning environment.
I have also worked within the Early Years clinics providing assessment and therapy to preschool children and their families.

Therapy is bespoke and where there are language difficulties includes supporting the parents in their communication skills to maximise their child's language learning as well as working directly with the child on specific areas.
We have been incredibly fortunate to have found Louise and have her as our son’s speech and language therapist. From the very beginning, she showed a deep understanding of his needs and created a safe, engaging environment that allowed him to feel comfortable and confident.
Her sessions are thoughtfully structured, fun, and tailored specifically to his interests and developmental level. We’ve seen real progress in his communication skills—both in his expressive language and his confidence in using it socially. Most importantly, Louise genuinely cares.
We are so grateful for her support and would recommend her to any parent looking for a skilled, and dedicated speech and language therapist.

My son started speech therapy with Louise 4 months ago, his speech had already come on amazingly, he’s gone from a limited vocabulary using 1-2 words at a time to making full sentences which has also helped with his behaviour as he’s much less frustrated. Louise puts you completely at ease from the moment you meet her and my son absolutely loves her and counts down the days to her sessions. Since starting with Louise it has not only been life changing for my son but for our whole family as the more communication he is getting the smoother our days run, my only regret is not starting sooner!
